St. Peter’s Basilica is not actually the mother church of the Catholic church not the Pope’s official seat. It is one of the holiest sites of Christianity and Catholic Tradition, and is traditionally the burial site of St. Peter, the head of Jesus’ twelve Apostles and the first pope. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
