Saint Mark’s Basilica is the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Venice and the most famous church in Venice. It is also known as Chiesa d’Oro (Church of gold) because of its opulent design and gold mosaics. It was built from 978 to 1092 and is said to be one of the finest examples of Byzantine architecture in the world
